Port logistics & heavy haulage: Thessaloniki to Sapes

Our latest project involved handling two heavy reactors from the port of Thessaloniki and transporting them to the High Voltage Center in Sapes, Greece.

This operation required more than just simple container transport. The project involved:

  • Handling Heavy Cargo: We managed two 40-foot flat rack containers, each with a gross weight of 35,000 kg.
  • Specialized Unpacking: We received the containers at the port of Thessaloniki and then moved them to an off-site facility for careful unpacking. This was crucial, as each flat rack held a single, oversized reactor (as seen in the photos) with specific dimensions: 3330 x 3400 x 3410 mm.
  • Onward Road Transport: After unpacking, we organized the road transport of the two heavy reactors from Thessaloniki to the High Voltage Center in Nea Santa, Sapes. This required meticulous planning to ensure a safe journey for the high-value cargo.

Our team at Cosmatos Group managed every step of the process:

  1. Port Handling: We coordinated the pickup of both flat rack containers from the port of Thessaloniki.
  2. Off-Site Unpacking: We arranged for the flat racks to be moved to a secure facility where our team safely unlashed and prepared the reactors for their onward journey.
  3. Secure Road Transport: We used a suitable fleet to transport the two reactors, ensuring they were properly secured for the road journey to Sapes.

Both reactors were successfully delivered to their final destination in Sapes, on time and without any issues. This project demonstrates our capability to provide a complete, start-to-finish logistics solution, handling everything from port operations and specialized unpacking to final-mile delivery.
